The Atlantic Wall (German: Atlantikwall) was an extensive system of coastal defences and fortifications built by Nazi Germany in stages between 1936 and 1944, which included over 450 fortified locations along the coasts of France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, and northern Italy.

The BBC has recently uncovered that WWII anti-tank defences designed to defend against a German invasion at a Cornish beach, were actually able to protect against missiles fired by cruise missiles which were developed back in the 1960’s.
